Position: Clinical Lead
My name is Sophie and I’m the Clinical Lead Nurse at St Joseph’s. I oversee the running of the clinical side of the home, as well as being the medications coordinator. I’m here to support all staff, from carers to management and answer any questions anyone has. I absolutely love my job at St Joseph’s, I have been here since February 2010, and feel it’s like one big family. One of my favourite parts of the job is the smile you get from a resident. It can be a quick hello, or sitting holding someone’s hand, and that smile means everything. It’s a privilege to be part of the St Joseph’s team.

Position: Activity Organiser
I have worked at St Joseph’s for over 10 years, starting my career there as a carer, then team leader. When I was asked to consider the activities co-ordinator role, I was initially apprehensive, but I love and thoroughly enjoyed the role, I have some much fun everyday with the residents and my sidekick Teddy. Each day is different and the residents surprise me everyday with the choices that they make and the ideas that they have and how they enjoy the activities that we do everyday.

“Moving my dad to Orchard Manor Care Home has been the best decision I could have made for him. The support and caring ways everyone in the home show to my dad is so special. He is a lovely man, but sometimes now with his dementia, he can easily get upset. In the previous home, they were slow to react and this led to my dad reacting in ways which were out of frustration. The staff at Orchard Manor are excellent and react so quickly to possible flair up moments. Staff treat every patient and visitor in such a welcoming and lovely way. The introduction of dolls to my dad has turned his emotions around, he now looks after them as his children and is so happy. Thank you for looking after my very special dad”!
